Ambassador to Zimbabwe Guo Shaochun invited Zimbabwean Foreign Minister Shawa to visit the Harare International Airport reconstruction and expansion project

   On August 22, Ambassador to Zimbabwe Guo Shaochun invited Zimbabwe's Foreign Minister Frederick·Officials from Shawa and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Local Government, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Communications of Zimbabwe jointly visited the reconstruction and expansion project of Zimbabwe Harare International Airport undertaken by CJI. It was reported on August 23 by the front-page news "China presses for timeous completion of projects" of the local Herald.

   Ambassador Guo said during the visit that 2022 is a bumper year for China-Zimbabwe cooperation. He hopes that Zimbabwe diplomats and government officials will increase their knowledge and understanding of China-Zimbabwe cooperation through this visit. The working teams of China and Zimbabwe will further strengthen exchanges and jointly promote China-Zimbabwe comprehensive strategy. The partnership has developed in depth.

   Foreign Minister Shawar thanked Ambassador Guo for his kind invitation and his warm explanation of the project. He said that the reconstruction and expansion project of Harare International Airport will increase the annual passenger throughput of the airport from 2.5 million to 6 million, making Harare an important aviation hub in Central and Southern Africa. I would like to thank China for its selfless assistance and support in the areas most urgently needed by Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe is willing to strengthen communication and cooperation with China to promote bilateral cooperation to achieve more results. We welcome more Chinese investors to set up business in Tianjin to achieve mutually beneficial and win-win development and better benefit the two peoples.

   The Zimbabwean officials who participated in the event expressed that through this visit, they really felt the sincerity and enthusiasm of China to help and support Africa, and hoped to contribute to the inheritance of China-Zimbabwe friendship and deepening cooperation between the two countries through their own efforts.
