China Digital Construction Society went to the Provincial Public Construction Center to investigate and guide the implementation of BIM applications

On November 16, Jiang Qian, Director of the Science and Technology Department of the Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and Ni Meixian, Secretary-General of China Digital Construction Society, led a team to the construction site of the first-phase project of Niushou Mountain Branch of the Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine for centralized construction projects to investigate and guide the implementation of BIM applications. Tang Laishun, Assistant General Manager and Director of Technical Information Center of CJI, Lou Yongfeng, Deputy General Manager of Provincial Public Construction Center, and Li Zaili, Deputy General Manager, accompanied the investigation.

The research team combined the exhibition boards and models to understand in detail the latest results of the exploration and practice of BIM technology application by the Provincial Public Construction Center, and went deep into the construction site of the first-phase project of the Niushou Mountain Branch of the Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine to inspect the implementation of the project's BIM application on the spot.

Based on the actual needs of centralized construction projects, the Provincial Public Construction Center has carried out in-depth application of BIM technology in non-profit engineering projects invested by provincial governments. So far, 10 projects carrying out BIM technology applications, including the first phase project of Niushou Mountain Branch of Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Gymnasium project of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and the scientific research building construction project of the Institute of Atomic Medicine of Jiangsu Province, have successively won 2 national awards for innovation and excellence in the BIM field and 4 provincial awards. During implementation, more than 1,000 spatial collision points have been found through BIM collision inspection, deep foundation verification, clear height optimization, construction process simulation, schedule simulation, driving simulation, drone aerial photography, crowd simulation and evacuation simulation analysis., timely optimization and adjustment have been carried out to better solve the problems found during the BIM inspection process during the design stage, avoid unnecessary changes and errors and omissions during construction, and the progress, quality and cost of the project site are better controlled.

Secretary-General Ni Meixian provided in-depth technical guidance on BIM application difficulties and methods to promote BIM application. Secretary-General Ni Meixian pointed out that to realize the application of BIM technology, two aspects of work must be done well. First, we must adhere to the BIM collaborative methodology, with the focus of work on integrating differences and forming an industrial chain; second, we must establish and improve the underlying model collaborative platform, new technology applications cannot be restricted by foreign software, but must be supported by independent intellectual property operating software.

Director Jiang Qian fully affirmed the work results of the Provincial Public Construction Center and pointed out that it should be noted that the core of the application of BIM technology is I (information), not M (model). The application of new technologies such as BIM is to raise awareness and use positive thinking to achieve design collaboration; the second is to enhance the motivation of each participating unit to apply and pay attention to social and economic benefits; the third is that ideals and beliefs cannot be broken, and many problems at present must be solved by using new technology.

Director Tang Laishun pointed out that there is a long way to go for the application of new technologies such as BIM. In the next step of work, the Provincial Public Construction Center needs to pay close attention to implementation from the following three aspects: First, strengthen ideological understanding and use ideas to lead the high-quality development of centralized construction undertakings; Second, we must Pay attention to technical exchanges and learning, and we must go out and learn more advanced practices and experiences in the industry; Third, we must actively carry out research on BIM special topics, further improve the technical theoretical level and practical application capabilities, and give full play to the demonstration and leading role of the centralized construction model.
