Wang Yun, Manager of Zhongjiang Namibia Branch: For the trust of the organization

Since 1991, I have been engaged in foreign economic work in the African continent far away from my motherland. I am currently the general manager of the Namibia branch of CJI. Over the past 16 years, I have always kept in mind the trust of the organization and the responsibilities of party members, worked hard in a foreign country, and actively contributed to the implementation of the "going global" strategy for state-owned enterprises. I remember when I returned to China for vacation in 2001, I suddenly heard that the company would send me to work in Namibia. I was very upset at that time. Because ten years of hard life in Africa have exhausted me to the limit, when I come back this time, I am preparing to ask the company to change my position in China. At this time, the company leader asked me for a "pre-appointment talk". The task I accepted was to go deep into the Namib Desert to build a space satellite monitoring and control station. It turns out that when my country's satellites and spacecraft are launched, in addition to using the "Yuanwang" survey ship to measure and control on the Atlantic Ocean, they also need to establish a satellite monitoring and control station in Africa. The company asked me to serve as the project manager of the monitoring and control station project. It has been six years since the leader spoke to me on behalf of the company's party committee, but I still remember it: this is a major political task that is related to whether China can take the first step in space! It is the pride of state-owned enterprises and the glory of CJI that we have the opportunity to undertake this project; it is the trust of the organization and your glory as a party member that you can personally participate in this project. At that time, I not only completely forgot the prepared resignation, but also immediately expressed my determination to the company's leaders: If the measurement and control station could not be completed on schedule and with high quality, I, Wang Yun, was not worthy of being a party member. After saying that, I walked into the Namib Desert without hesitation. Despite my long life experience in Africa and full psychological preparation, I was still surprised by the harsh natural environment and difficult working conditions I faced. The temperature in the Namib Desert reaches more than 40 degrees during the day, but drops to a few degrees below zero at night. Before the future site of the China Space Satellite Monitoring and Control Station, there are no "three links and one leveling" conditions necessary for the start of the project, such as water, electricity, roads, and smooth site. There is no even communication. There is only endless yellow sand. Thinking of the trust of the organization and the responsibilities of party members, before the project started, I first convened a meeting of key party members and party activists in the project department to conduct "pre-war mobilization." I tell you that as party members, we must be able to stand up when critical times are critical and be able to rush out when critical times are critical. Although the current conditions are difficult, they are the touchstone for us to sharpen our party spirit. Every party member must be at the forefront and set an example to ensure that engineering tasks are completed on time and with high quality, and must not discredit the organization. People's hearts are united, and Mount Tai moves. I led everyone into the sand sea and towards the construction site. After a long time of heat and sun baking, everyone's skin turned from red to black, and then began to peel off layer by layer, and their lips cracked with blood. At night, we stayed in tents, afraid to take off our clothes and shivering with cold. The most difficult thing is to construct in the desert hinterland. There is a shortage of water. Sometimes, it takes ten days and a half to take a bath. However, under such conditions, none of our Party members and workers flinched and delivered a high-quality satellite monitoring station to the motherland's space industry one and a half months ahead of schedule. When the general from the Manned Space Command held our hands tightly and when the provincial leaders attending the completion ceremony gave us a thumbs up, I felt very pleased and proud: we have lived up to the trust of the organization! Later, the company asked me to serve as the general manager of the Namibia branch. I fully implemented self-management projects locally, opening up a new path of self-development and virtuous cycle. Today, in the construction markets of Namibia and South Africa, we have created a blue sky and held a position for the motherland's foreign economic undertakings. This year, when President Hu Jintao paid a state visit to Africa, as a representative of Chinese-funded institutions of China's large enterprises in Africa, I was cordially received by President Hu, which will be unforgettable for my life.
